Avaya is four going on twenty. The other day I was running around like a mad woman trying to get the house clean. I had invited people over which is what I do when I have a messy house and no energy. Avaya was busily taking care of her fake baby. I asked her if she would like to help me clean the bathroom. Get them involved is dads favorite thing to say when I’m pulling my own hair out and all the kids are crying at the same time. She cheerfully answered politely, “No thanks but thanks for asking!” The girl will seriously say anything to get out of work. She was barely two when she would tell me that she doesn’t feel good and she’s so tired when asked to clean up her toys. Surely she comes by it honestly seeing as I still invite people over to get motivated. Dayton is finally three and seems to be talking more. This has really cut down on the horrendous frustrated fits. He is all boy and loves to throw balls around my poor house! I did order balloons for him to throw instead. They are ...

Look at all that adorable innocence! Looking at them you would never guess what they are capable of. That sweet doll in the middle is our newest addition, Nali Ann. She has been an absolute peach since she was born (which was shortly before this picture was taken). Now miss Nali is three months old and her sweet smiles help me keep my sanity.  Nali got hungry at 8:30 this morning so I sleepily hauled  her into my bed to nurse. As I was slowly waking up I heard hysterical giggling coming from downstairs. Then I heard Avaya talking about coloring. This is when I knew there was going to be bad news awaiting me once I made it down there. I woke up my husband to go check on them. The giggles stopped the second he walked into the living room. This confirmed that they were doing something they shouldn’t be. I finished Feeding the baby and hurried downstairs to asses the damage. On my way out of my bedroom I tripped over my sisters bridal shower gift which was now spread all over...
Dad and I, along with the two rugrats, arrived in North Dakota on Monday. We are hoping to live here for a year so Dad can work. My kids are as busy as ever! This past week has been full of moving and buying stuff for our new apartment. Yes! Apartment! I’m sorry neighbors but we are here so you will probably be hearing quite a bit from these disasters. This morning I woke up to Vay jumping on my air mattress at 8 am. This is not the best way to wake up but it definitely wakes you up! I got up and collected Dayton from his crib and pulled out the cereal bars. Vay decided she wanted to do it by herself so she threw herself down and threw her first fit of the day. After everyone was calm and fed it was get dressed time. Princess undies for Vay and diaper for Bugger. Clothes on, they were playing in their bedroom and I was in the living room making plans for the day while talking on the phone to dad. Suddenly there was a lot of crying in the bedroom. I ran in there to find Avaya guilty a...
I’m pretty sure my life will never be boring with these two rugrats! Yesterday started off as a normal Monday of getting started on weekly duties such as laundry. I was in the basement doing my laundry while my angels were playing two floors up in their bedroom which coincidentally happens to be next to the bathroom. So I am just calmly switching the load on the basement (which takes a little while because, for some unknown reason, my washer and dryer are roughly ten feet apart in two different rooms). I meander my way upstairs appreciating the morning sunshine streaming through the windows. I arrive upstairs and find Vay pushing her stroller. After a closer look I realize there is a coffee cup full of water in the bottom of the stroller. There is water sloshing out of the cup and a little trail of water splattered behind the stroller. My mom brain instantly computes that water from the sink in the bathroom is inaccessible because Avaya can get to the sink but not back down by hers...
It was another busy day in our house! It started out with a wake up call of miss Avaya jumping on our bed at 8 AM. I rolled my tired self out of bed to make breakfast. The morning was spent wishing I could go back to sleep. At about ten I went to go wake up dad. I crawled in next to him and tried to wake him up nicely. The kids were quietly playing with their kitchen set in their bedroom. Soon I was dozing. I woke up to the sound of a toilet flush. Never a good sound with a two year old that is just potty training and a one year old that likes to put things in the toilet. I hopped out of bed and went to investigate. Sure enough it was bad! Toilet water all over the floor, two guilty faces and a toy bowl bobbing in the toilet. I cleaned them up and shut the bathroom door so I could clean up the mess they made. Ten minutes, a couple towels, and a whole bunch of bathroom cleaner later I left the bathroom. As I was leaving I spotted a tomato. I picked it up and found a huge bite taken out ...
Well here is my life summed up in one picture! The sassy dark haired beauty on the left is my daughter Avaya and the one grinning on the right is my son Dayton. They are definitely going through a terroristic toddler stage right now. This picture is actually from a little while ago but it seems to be shareable. That day we had all arrived home from a ten hour overnight drive back from North Dakota (a bad start to any day). Dad was taking a nap upstairs while I was running around like a chicken with my head cut off frantic because we were late (this is a very normal occurrence). We were headed to a work Christmas party and running an hour late. I had the kids bathed and dressed so I ran out to start the car so we wouldn’t freeze to death on our way to the party. After frantically starting the car I ran back inside to brush my teeth. I shoved my hair in the regular ponytail I went to wake up Dad. As he was falling back asleep I ran back downstairs to get the kids shoes and coats on...
