I’m pretty sure my life will never be boring with these two rugrats! Yesterday started off as a normal Monday of getting started on weekly duties such as laundry. I was in the basement doing my laundry while my angels were playing two floors up in their bedroom which coincidentally happens to be next to the bathroom. So I am just calmly switching the load on the basement (which takes a little while because, for some unknown reason, my washer and dryer are roughly ten feet apart in two different rooms). I meander my way upstairs appreciating the morning sunshine streaming through the windows. I arrive upstairs and find Vay pushing her stroller. After a closer look I realize there is a coffee cup full of water in the bottom of the stroller. There is water sloshing out of the cup and a little trail of water splattered behind the stroller. My mom brain instantly computes that water from the sink in the bathroom is inaccessible because Avaya can get to the sink but not back down by herself. She is also so into washing her hands that she wouldn’t want to get down. This means the only water available was toilet water! I have dealt with way too much toilet water in my short career so far as a mom so I hardly heave a sigh. Toilet water immunity might be a thing. First I clean up the children than out comes the bathroom cleaner spray and towels. By that time it’s lunch and nap time, yay! Mom needs one too. Lunch is served, naps done, and dinner made when dad gets home. Dad getting home means we all dash for the door yelling “He’s mine!”. This turns into family tickle time and pretty soon everyone is giggling. Well maybe dad isn’t giggling but he’s definitely laughing!
After dinner dad and I sit down to relax and visit about work and such. This is much needed for me. Sometimes there is something special about talking to someone that knows how to speak proper English. The kids are happily playing on the stairs with only a wall with a doorway in between us. Soon the giggles turn into “I’m doing something naughty” giggles. I rush over and yep very naughty. I had a friends container of formula at my house because I was planning to drop it off for her. They had dumped the entire can over the bottom three stairs. I might have let out a little horrified shriek because dad came running. Dad took Vay up to her room for a time out as I got the vacuum out. I was almost finished vacuuming when Bugger rounded the corner. He was COVERED from nose to toes in formula. Not only that his hands were covered in chunky formulas and he was sucking it off his fingers. For some reason this situation gagged me more than the toilet water. Maybe it was the smell. I stripped him down to his diaper and dad started cleaning his hands and face. While he was busy I went upstairs to collect pajamas and Avaya from timeout. She was very apologetic, gave dad and I hugs, and told us “My not make bottles”. Heart melting instantly. These sweethearts sure are testing their limits lately but it doesn’t take more than five minutes for them to make up for it. I sure am thankful they are so cute!
I love getting a little glimpse in to your very busy life. Your kids are great! Love and miss you so much! Aunt Heather
